Competitions

The Texas Youth Creators Awards, previously named the Texas Media Awards, promote excellence in amateur media production and its importance in life-long learning. The competition has ten categories and four age division. Sharyland High School has a tradition of excellence when it comes to this competition. “Many students enter multiple projects each year and do quite well,” stated Nicole Cruz, SHS Librarian.  The competitions deadline is December.

UIL Young Filmmaker Competition deadline is in January and has film and animation categories.  Students are encouraged to enter.

SkillsUSA Media competition occurs in February and offers several media competitions that includes News Broadcast. It is a district competition and winners go to state competition.
