Course Description 

In this course students will focus on basic communication skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) of the Spanish language.  Students will become familiar with context vocabulary and will build foundational skills in grammar.  Classes will be interactive and will incorporate the use of technology.  Students will have several class opportunities to participate and practice their speaking and listening skills.  However, additional studying at home is important to ensure successful achievement in Spanish 1.

Classroom Expectations 

* Be on time to class, remain seated, and begin preparing your materials for the day’s lesson.

* Bring your materials to class everyday.

* If absent, check Google Classroom for assignments.

*If you are not clear about an activity, assignment or teaching point, please ask for assistance immediately.

* Please do your best to make sure that all of your actions in the classroom are appropriate and considerate of others; including your peers, teachers, classroom guests and/or substitutes.  Practice our social contract.  Obscene language and bad manners will not be tolerated.

* You may not leave the classroom, unless you have permission from the teacher or substitute.  You must use the designated classroom pass at all times for restroom use and return the pass to its designated area.

*Please help by doing your part to keep our classroom neat and clean.  Have pride in your school!  

* Please abide by the Classroom Emergency Rules and Evacuation Procedures.

Grades

Parents and students can check course grades online, at www.sharylandisd.org   Grades for Spanish IE will be based on a variety of assignments.  Students will have quizzes, chapter exams, grammar exercises, and cultural activities.  

Please check your grades often on Skyward, it keeps you aware of your class progress. Major assignments-60%  Minor assignments-40%
