Algebra 2 Honors Syllabus

                    Algebra 2 Honors
SYLLABUS Fall 2022

Welcome to Algebra 2 Honors, it is really great to be back to school!  Before starting this course, you are expected to have a thorough knowledge of all of the concepts that you learned in algebra 1, including: adding, subtracting, multiplying and factor monomials and polynomials. Also, you are expected to know how to solve simple one, two and multi-step equations.  The last concept that should be familiar to you is the linear and quadratic functions and their translations, and how to find domain and range from a graph, a function, a table or a stated problem.

This is a rigorous course that covers the objectives outlined by the State of Texas Algebra 2 curriculum.  It is essential that you complete all of the assigned practice work in order to be successful in this class.  You will find this class to be enriching and fair.

We will follow the school district's grading and homework policy.

In addition to the tests, quizzes will usually be like the type you are used to, made-up by the teacher.  These quizzes will be timed, so it is important that you are in class on time every day.

Remember, when you are absent, you are expected to keep up and do all of the assignments that you may have missed.

If you need some extra help, there are several options available, but do no wait until you are totally lost to seek assistance.

  1. Tutoring: Tuesday and Thursday 7:20 - 7:50 AM.
  2. You can form a study group with your classmates.
  3. You can get a tutor.

Grades will be determined by two categories:

Minor Grades (Daily Assignments and Quizzes): 40%

Major Assignments (Tests and Class Projects): 60%

*There is no late work or retests (unless 50% or more students fail in a class) for Honors and AP courses.
