Rios, Jaime A.-Social Studies

Hello My Name Is...

Jaime Alfredo Rios

Sul Ross State University
I am originally from Roma, TX and graduated from Roma High School in 2005. Growing up, I was blessed to have family in Mexico and learned to become bilingual as well as a son of two cultures. I went to the West Texas town of Alpine to attend Sul Ross State University were I received my Bachelor of Arts with a major in History in 2009. My focus is World War II, the Holocaust and the American Civil War. I taught in Roma High School for 11 years before moving to Sharyland where I will be teaching World Geography, Economics, Personal Finance, US History and AP United States History.

As far as extracurricular activities go, my area of expertise is debate. This amazing activity, which can be divided into Cross-Examination Debate and Lincoln-Douglass Debate, is something I have dedicated a large part of my life to since 2001. My goal is to create a nationally competitive program here at Sharyland High School. With the help of teachers, staff, parents and of course the most amazing students the Valley can offer, we will take Sharyland High School to new academic heights!
